About Me

I have always had a passion for the arts: I started in music, explored videos, and ended in photography. I have always loved good photos, but it was only in my third year at university that I started seriously taking pictures. I began working for the local newspaper, a position which threw me into the deep end, outdoor sports events one day and high-energy rock concerts the next.

During this time, I started assisting acclaimed wedding photographer Sybrand Cilliers. I learnt an immeasurable amount under his mentorship, shooting close to twenty weddings with him during the summer of 2008/2009. Assisting him also led to me working with other local photographers, including Mitch Wong Ho and Stefan Steenkamp. At the start of 2009 I also started doing video work with Mark Chipps.

pull-outThe wedding industry demands a very high standard. As a result, assisting and second-shooting at these weddings forced me to perfect my technical skills and adapt to the fast-paced and high-pressure wedding industry. These skills have proven to be of great benefit in other fields of photography.

While I’ve learnt a lot over the last 18 months, I am still learning more and expanding my skill-set. One of the things which most excite me about being a photographer, is the endless possibilities. I love shooting a wide variety of events and thereby meeting new people and exploring new locations.
